The Physiology of Non-Restorative Sleep

A Physician-Led Precision Sleep Program - $3725

Many people continue to struggle with poor sleep, fatigue, or non-restorative rest despite “normal” sleep studies, good sleep hygiene, or the absence of a clear sleep disorder diagnosis.

This program is for individuals who want a deeper, more personalized evaluation of the physiological, behavioral, metabolic, circadian, and environmental factors that may be contributing to poor sleep and daytime recovery.

Our goal is not to promise perfect sleep or quick fixes. Sleep is complex, and many cases of persistent insomnia or non-restorative sleep do not have a single identifiable cause. Instead, this program is designed to provide a structured, physician-guided process to better understand what may be interfering with restorative sleep and to systematically test targeted interventions over time.

This is an early pilot program, and we are continuing to refine the structure, testing, and intervention process as we learn which approaches are most helpful for different patient patterns and sleep phenotypes.

Who This Program May Be Appropriate For

This program may be a good fit for individuals who:

  • want treatment for sleep apnea but also have a history of insomnia and may struggle with CPAP (COMISA)

  • continue to feel poorly rested despite adequate time in bed

  • wake frequently overnight

  • struggle with persistent insomnia or fragmented sleep

  • have fatigue despite “normal” medical testing

  • suspect stress, circadian rhythm, metabolism, temperature regulation, hormones, or lifestyle factors may be impacting sleep

  • are interested in a more comprehensive and longitudinal approach to sleep optimization

  • are open to behavioral and physiologic interventions over time

This program is generally intended for motivated individuals who are willing to actively participate in tracking, behavioral changes, and longitudinal follow-up.

Initial Evaluation

The program begins with a comprehensive assessment to better understand:

  • sleep symptoms

  • medical history

  • sleep timing and patterns

  • stress and recovery patterns

  • Sleep Profiler EEG-based sleep assessment

  • sleep questionnaires and sleep logs

  • circadian rhythm and chronotype assessment

  • blood work

  • a continuous glucose monitor

  • review of wearable device data

The cost of these tests is included within the overall pilot program fee.

What the program may include:

Depending on individual needs, the program may incorporate:

  • CBT-I (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia) principles

  • sleep timing and circadian interventions

  • light exposure assessment

  • wearable and physiologic trend review

  • overnight sleep architecture assessment

  • continuous glucose monitoring (CGM)

  • basic laboratory evaluation

  • gut microbiome testing

  • temperature and environmental sleep optimization strategies

  • longitudinal reassessment and follow-up

Interventions are individualized and introduced gradually over time based on symptoms, testing, and clinical response.

Important Notes

This program is not intended to replace primary care, psychiatric care, or emergency medical care.

While many individuals may experience meaningful improvement in sleep quality, daytime function, or recovery, no specific outcomes can be guaranteed. The purpose of this program is to better understand and address the factors most likely contributing to poor sleep using a structured and data-informed process.

Program Structure

  • Duration: Approximately 6 months

  • Includes longitudinal physician follow-up and reassessment

  • Testing costs included in program pricing
